Short Flight... Lasting Impact
65 years ago today, an entire nation held its breath as Alan Shepard became the first American to travel into space.
The mission was a brief, suborbital flight, lasting just fifteen minutes. By today’s standards, it doesn’t sound very impressive. Yet it marked a turning point in history. It inspired confidence and opened doors that would eventually send men to the moon. That moment became part of a much bigger story.
In a similar way, we often underestimate small acts of faithfulness because they seem unremarkable. A kind or encouraging word. An act of generosity. A prayer with someone in need. These things may feel insignificant, but in God’s hands they become part of something greater.
In John 6:9–11, we read about a boy who offered Jesus five barley loaves and two fish. It was a small portion in the face of a massive need, yet Jesus multiplied it to feed thousands. He chose to work through a small, willing offering — and it was more than enough.
Don’t wait for a grand opportunity to make a difference. Ask God to use you in one simple way today. Our seemingly insignificant obedience can have eternal impact.
Encourage someone. Forgive someone. Help someone. Then let God launch your effort farther than you can see.
