One Bad Wheel

I always seem to get the worst shopping cart at the supermarket. You know the one I’m talking about.  One wheel clacks, squeals, or flops around like a sea bass on a dry dock.  People turn and stare as I clunk my way down the aisle.  It’s loud, distracting, and a battle just to keep moving in a straight line.  One wheel throws off the entire cart.

Have you ever been around a “bad wheel” Christian?  When someone grumbles or insists on their own way, they become a distraction, pulling relationships off course, creating friction, and disrupting unity.  One attitude can affect the entire group.

Scripture speaks directly to this in Philippians 2:14-15: "Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you.  Live clean, innocent lives as children of God..." And again, in Colossians 3:15, Let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.  For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.”

When we choose grace over grumbling, we reflect the heart of Christ.

Let’s not be the wheel that drags everything down, but rather the one that helps move everything forward.  The cart works best when all the wheels roll together.
