Heavy Snow

Much of the country faced an epic winter snowstorm over the weekend. I’ll be honest with you, I’m not a big fan of winter… or storms… or snow.

Don’t get me wrong, the beauty of a fresh snowfall is magical — but sloshing around in frigid temps, endless shoveling, icy roads… ugh, I’m getting too old for all that!

Now, before all the snow-lovers label me a total Grinch, let me say this: I finally gave in and got a snowblower this year. And guess what? My outlook on snow changed dramatically!

The snow didn’t suddenly disappear. The storms didn’t stop. But what once felt like a burden suddenly felt manageable. The snowblower wasn’t a miracle; it was a sufficient solution for the season.

Sometimes it’s not about removing the problem; it’s about changing how we face it.  In 2 Corinthians 12:7–9, we learn that Paul repeatedly asked God to remove a persistent pain, or “thorn,” he was dealing with. The Lord assured him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (v. 9, NIV).

God didn’t miraculously remove Paul’s struggle.  Instead, He gave him the strength and power to walk through it.

Faith isn’t always about expecting the storm to end. Sometimes it’s admitting our weakness, receiving His grace, and moving forward in the strength He provides.
