Wiped Out
I walked into my dad’s home office many years ago and stopped dead in my tracks. He was slumped over in his chair with his forehead flat down on the desk. His arms hung at his sides, completely limp.
“Dad?!” I called out. No response.
A wave of panic swept over me.
I ran over and grabbed his shoulder, and he jolted upright, totally disoriented.
He had simply fallen asleep, obviously completely worn out. The kind of exhaustion where nothing else matters. You just need to close your eyes and let go, despite the unfinished work and the uncomfortable circumstances around you.
We’ve all been there. Physically drained, emotionally empty, sometimes even spiritually running on fumes. The demands of life keep coming, and eventually we reach our limit.
But when you're just too overwhelmed or exhausted to think clearly, it’s comforting to know God is still fully awake — guarding, guiding, and giving strength in ways you may not even see.
Psalm 121:3-4 says, “He will not let you stumble; the one who watches over you will not sleep. Indeed, he who watches over Israel never sleeps or slumbers.”
Today, give your worries, stress, and exhaustion to God. When your head hits the pillow tonight, ask for peaceful rest.
The One who holds you never sleeps — so you can (Psalm 4:8).
