Turning North or South?

Turning North or South?

I live on the southern coast of Rhode Island.  From my deck, I have a distant view of the ocean.  Sounds nice, right?  But here’s something most people don’t think about: coastal dwellers have limited options on where they can go.

What do I mean by this?  Well, just beyond my driveway, there’s a stoplight.  Nearly every day, I turn right at the light and go north.  Why?  Because if I turn left, I’ll just end up at the ocean.  The ocean is beautiful and fun, but there’s only so much I can actually accomplish there.  Turning north allows me to go to stores, businesses, the post office, and church.  It’s the only way to get anything practical done.

That stoplight is a daily reminder that not every direction leads somewhere useful.

Every day we face choices.  Some lead to growth and life, while others might look very appealing but don’t move us forward And yes, sometimes it’s hard to know which way to turn, but God promises guidance. Proverbs 3:6 says, "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." Isaiah 30:21 adds, "Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.'"

The small, everyday decisions matter, and each one is an opportunity to follow His lead.  God’s way isn’t always the easiest or most popular, but it always aligns with His best plans for us.
