T.H.I.N.K.

Yesterday I helped my wife decorate her science classroom for another school year.  The walls are filled with colorful, creative displays, but this simple sign stood out to me:

Of course, this isn’t just a practical sign for sixth-graders. It’s a valuable reminder for all Christians. Each of these principles is deeply rooted in Scripture.

So before we speak, let’s THINK:

T — Do we always speak the TRUTH?
“Tell the truth to each other.”  (Zechariah 8:16)

H — Are our comments HELPFUL?
“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” (Ephesians 4:29)

I — Do our words INSPIRE and encourage others?
“So encourage each other and build each other up…” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

N — Are our words even NECESSARY?
“A truly wise person uses few words; a person with understanding is even-tempered.”  (Proverbs 17:27)

K — Does our speech reflect KINDNESS?
“Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.”  (Proverbs 16:24)

God cares about the words we choose.  Today, let’s ask Him to help us THINK.
