Messages in the Sky

My house is close to the beach, so summer has its own familiar soundtrack: distant waves crashing, foghorns, and music drifting on the ocean breeze. On busy weekends, the unmistakable drone of low-flying prop planes joins the mix. They tow long banners advertising just about everything imaginable — anything to catch the eye of beachgoers below.

It's amazing that in our digital world of buzzing phones and endless notifications, these noisy old planes are still at it. Why? Because people still look up. Something in us is wired to notice what's up in the sky.

Psalm 19:1 reminds us that God uses the sky too — not to sell a product, but to reveal Himself: "The heavens proclaim the glory of God.  The skies display his craftsmanship."

Creation itself is God’s banner stretched across the heavens, declaring His power and creativity.

Maybe we've grown so accustomed to the noise of daily life that we've stopped looking up.  But God's banner still flies above us — unmistakable and visible to anyone willing to notice.

Whether it's a striking sunset, a powerful thunderstorm, or an expanse of stars too numerous to count, take a moment to look up.  Let His creation remind you of the greatness of the One who made it.
