Keep Me Signed In… Please!
Is anyone else frustrated by the endless requests for two-step verification?
Are the CAPTCHA puzzles getting harder, or is my eyesight just getting worse? Does that tiny piece of the traffic light on the edge of the box count? The “keep me signed in” button seems to be a cruel hoax, and the code they sent to my email still hasn’t arrived. Enough with the verifications already!
Thankfully, God doesn't work that way. He doesn’t repeatedly “re-authenticate” us to determine if we still belong. “I know my sheep... No one can snatch them away from me” (John 10:27-28). Our standing is not based on a code we enter correctly today, only to fail tomorrow. “So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1).
And God does not forget us between visits. He sees our comings and goings (Psalm 139:1-3). I may sometimes feel like I’m starting over, hoping I’ve done enough to be accepted. But the truth I need to remember is far better: in Christ, I am already known, already secure. I can rejoice in immediate access, boldly approaching the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16; Ephesians 3:12).
