Daily Dips

It was the hottest week of the year. The sun blazed down as the thermometer went up... and up... and up. But one thing made it bearable, actually enjoyable: we had access to a pool that week!

We didn’t stay in the water all day.  We just took short dips here and there — five minutes, maybe ten.  But each time, we found ourselves totally refreshed and revitalized.  What made the weather manageable wasn’t one long swim, but a consistent return to the source of renewal.

That experience became a picture of something deeper.  We may think we need a long retreat or extended quiet time to feel close to God.  But often, it’s the small, consistent moments—morning, midday, evening—that sustain us.  A short prayer.  A few verses from Scripture.  A quiet minute in His presence.  These small dips into God’s grace can reset your heart, cool your spirit, and ground your day.

Lamentations 3:23 says, “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Every moment holds potential for refreshment.  So take a dip.  Whisper a prayer while you drive.  Read a psalm over lunch.  Pause for stillness before bed.  Come back to Him, again and again.
