Growing Daily

Ctrl + Alt + Yield

I recently heard a Christian author describe how her sense of calling has changed over the years. She first saw herself as a scribe—faithfully writing the message God wanted to deliver. As she matured, she began to think of herself as a pen in His hand. Now she describes herself as merely the ink.

Each step marked deeper surrender. Yet I wonder if the journey goes even further. What if, in the end, we discover that God wants us to be—not the writer, the pen, or the ink—but a blank sheet of paper? Not because it remains empty, but because it’s ready to receive whatever the Author chooses to write.  Fully yielded. Completely available. Never distracting from the story God wants to tell through our lives.

John the Baptist captured this surrender: “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30 ESV). Paul counted all his former accomplishments as nothing compared with Christ’s work in his life (Philippians 3:7), saying, “For to me, to live is Christ” (Philippians 1:21). And Jesus reminds us, “Apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Lord, help me today to be a clean and ready page, waiting for the story You want to write through me to unfold.
