Katie’s Song

We lost a dear friend this week — a beautiful soul and gifted worship leader.

There was a captivating quality to her voice, paired with an exuberant joy that drew everyone in.  We loved when she led worship with us. She can never be replaced.

We often talk about trusting God's will and timing. But moments like this test our deepest convictions… especially when a life feels cut short. They leave questions that may never be fully answered.

But one thought has stayed with me — something about what she loved most...

For years, Katie helped lead worship here on earth.  She treasured every opportunity to lift her voice with ours.

That beautiful voice hasn’t been silenced.  It’s been relocated.

Her worship didn’t stop.  It moved to a greater stage.

Revelation 7:9-10 describes a vast multitude standing before the throne, from every nation, tribe, and tongue, crying out in praise to God.  I can’t help but picture her there, right in the center of it all. Arms raised, free, and fully alive in the very presence she always sang about.

We feel the absence of her voice here. But Heaven isn’t missing anything.  The choir is now more complete than ever.

That doesn’t remove the grief.  But it reminds us that what she loved most—worshiping Jesus—is exactly what she’s doing right now, in a way we can barely imagine.

This is the tension we now carry:
We hear what’s missing. Heaven hears what’s been added.
