Heaven’s Book of World Records
When I was in grade school, our classroom hosted a book drive every year. The teacher would hand out a glossy brochure filled with new titles, but my friends and I were only interested in one item: The Guinness Book of World Records.
It was spectacular. We’d pore over the pages, marveling at the tallest man, the craziest daredevil, and the guy who ate the most hot dogs.
There’s something fascinating about people who stand out — the ones who are the best (or at least the strangest) at something. At some level, we all want to be noticed or admired. Maybe not for having the longest toenails in the world, but for something distinct that we’re proud of.
Scripture points us to a deeper kind of legacy. Proverbs 22:1 says, “A good name is more desirable than great riches.” God isn’t impressed by worldly records, fame, or financial success. He’s looking for people of integrity — those who are known for faithfulness, kindness, and love (Matthew 25:23, Ephesians 4:32, John 13:35).
Think about your accomplishments in life. What do you want to be known for, and what “record” would you like to hold in God’s eyes?
