God in the Ordinary

When I began writing Growing Daily, I didn’t expect it to change the way I see the world around me… but it did.

As I looked for things to write about, some of the little moments I used to rush past began to stand out. Yard work, dog walks, and running errands in town all became occasions to ask, Where can I find God in this? What might He be teaching me here?

Even experiences from years ago took on new meaning as lessons I had missed began to emerge. What once seemed like random happenings became opportunities to recognize God’s presence and see His truth reflected in everyday life.

This is what it means to live with expectancy — trusting that God is present and at work all around us.  Psalm 37:23 puts it this way: “The Lord directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.”

If God delights in every detail of our lives, then no moment is too ordinary for His attention. In His hands, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. The mundane becomes meaningful.

This week, try beginning each day with a simple prayer: “Lord, help me recognize Your presence, even in the little moments, and notice what You are teaching me today.”
