First-Time Wonder
A few weeks ago, I was playing foosball with the five-year-old daughter of a friend who was visiting. She had never seen a miniature soccer game before and was completely captivated.
I soon discovered she was also impossible to beat. Why? Well, she invented her own scoring system. Every time the ball rolled into either goal, she gave herself a point!
I couldn't tell you who actually scored the most goals that day. I was too busy smiling as I watched her discover something completely new.
Happiness in life often becomes even sweeter when we experience it through someone else. The same is especially true spiritually, like seeing a new believer discover God’s grace, watching your church grow, or witnessing your child or grandchild walk with the Lord.
John captured that feeling when he wrote that he could have "no greater joy than to hear that my children are following the truth" (3 John 1:4).
God gives us the privilege of not only growing in our own faith, but also encouraging growth in others.
Today, ask God to let you experience the sweet blessing of helping someone else take their next step with Him.
