Faith on Your Plate
A few years ago, my son and I thought it would be fun to get personalized license plates. Mine reads “GUITRR” and his says “DRDRUM” — a nod to our instruments with our initials worked in. We thought we were pretty clever.
What we didn’t expect was how many people would notice. Strangers point and give thumbs-up at stoplights. People stop us in parking lots to talk about guitars, drums, and music. It’s amazing how much attention a few letters can attract. It actually made me wish I’d chosen something with more spiritual depth.
People notice way more than we realize. Not just our license plates, but our attitudes and our words. They watch how we act... how we respond when the line is slow, when the pressure is high, when no one is watching — or when everyone is. We might think no one’s paying attention, but our lives are always sending a message. The only question is what it says.
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus said, “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Every day, we have the chance to display something about who we are, and Whose we are (2 Corinthians 5:20). When people read the license plate of our lives, may it clearly display one thing: JESUS.
