A Night at the Museum
Art museums all have a similar vibe, don’t they? Hushed galleries... nonsensical floor plans... guards lurking in every doorway. Gilded frames line every wall, while clothing-optional statues pose dramatically — most missing a limb, a head, or a nose.
My friends and I experienced all this as we toured “The Met” in New York City. The cavernous galleries were filled with masterworks from throughout the centuries.
When the museum closed, we spent the last bit of daylight walking the twisting paths of Central Park. The autumn air was crisp, and colorful leaves crunched under every step. With streetlamps flickering to life all around us, we paused on a picturesque stone bridge. A full moon was rising, creating a dazzling mosaic that danced across the water below.
Driving home, we talked about our favorite works of art. Masterpieces by Monet, van Gogh, and Renoir were recalled. Mine? “Moonrise over Central Park,” by God.
Even the most esteemed works of man are frozen in time and bound by frame or pedestal. But who can contain the work of the Lord? His gallery surrounds us, alive and ever-changing.
Every sunrise, every sunset, every star-filled sky — another masterpiece signed by the Creator.
“The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.” (Psalm 19:1)
